What this project is about
This project builds on the three year New Zealand Teaching and Learning Research Initiative (TLRI) study called: Learning to become 'assessment capable' teachers, that was conducted across four universities in New Zealand 2010 to 2102. That study surveyed primary student teacher understandings of assessment at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of their teacher education programme. The survey was informed by a review of the literature that existed in 2009/10 and focused on four dimensions of capability: principles, practices and purposes.
The TACT project seeks to contribute to our understanding of the development of teacher assessment capability through a focus on the nature of assessment education in initial teacher education programmes and their impacts, in a number of countries (including New Zealand, Denmark, Hong Kong, Greece, Canada, Australia and the United States). The intention is learn about assessment education through the sharing and analysis of current practice and its impacts.
